Creative Marbles

Creativity gives us a purpose to be on this planet. It's why we are here. Every person has a bit of a twist in what they can give. When the twisted gift of personalized expression is freely allowed range to roam, it is transformed into creativity.

This can go from how we fold a towel, to what we would paint given a free hand at the base of the Statue of Liberty. There is no one person who could ever do as you do. And every offering of positive creativity solidifies our reason to be on earth. We need the contributions of everyone to make the world as abundant with life as it can be. Your way of doing things adds to my experience of an interesting world.

Unfortunately, marking people as only being allowed to perform appointed roles in life has become the norm. From assembly line work to racism to sexism, the suppression of being able to freely express your way of doing things pours stifling sap on an imaginative planet. The immigrant Mexican who is only given field work as an option for money making could have been the one who discovered a better way to slice bread, chop an onion, invent a way to grow corn on Mars. A woman stuck in a factory job to pay the rent could have become a songwriter for the next great hip-hop artist.Or, the role change could be something more mundane; a boy who wanted to play the piano but was not allowed because his parents could not afford lessons. A lack of money is another form of oppression in a capitalist society.

When we criticize our neighbor but offer no solution, we are shutting down the possibility of mutually effective outcomes. Critiques, compromise, working together to find solutions--visionaries get more in return than complainers. Imaginative interactions with others solve problems with more efficiency and (hopefully) fun.

Being envious of what someone else has diminishes your capacity to learn. It keeps us focused on what we lack, rather than gleaning knowledge of how they got to where you want to be. Such knowledge will add to your tool belt of talent and skills.

You are a sentient being with unique offerings. Rejoice in being different. Add to the life force of earth with your particular brand of cleverness.

As my brother says, "We are all born with one hundred marbles. The marbles are loaded up in some areas and empty in others."

Figure out where your marbles are, where you are happiest with them being, and be in delight with how you turned out. Might as well, the Universe is already delighted with you.

I invite you to share in a chapter book series that was delightful to write:

Namaste, the creative in me recognizes the creative in you.
